Big Up is a re-release of Joe's last release intitled "55:22". The reason Shantytown and Joe re-released these songs were because we felt there were'nt enough songs as well as some problems with the original artwork. Sometimes doing something again makes it better and in this case it worked.
Big Up is now a complete release. When I close my eyes and listen to these tracks I find it hard to tell the difference between Joes' band and The Skatalites. Of course how could they not sound alike being that Joe produced two Skatalites cd's in the 1990s'. The rhythm section is exceptional and the horns all play in unioson.
Some of my favorite tracks are; "I heard the voice", "Skaramozza", "I remember Tommy", but by far the best track on the disc is "Jamaica farwell".
